License categories

AM

A driving licence can only be issued to a person who has reached the age of 15 years.

The AM category includes

1. two-wheeled motor vehicles with a design speed exceeding 25 km/h-1 and not exceeding 45 km/h-1, whose technical specifications correspond to those of L1e category vehicles according to the directly applicable European Union regulation governing the approval of L-category vehicles,50),

2. three-wheeled motor vehicles with a design speed exceeding 25 km/h-1 and not exceeding 45 km/h-1, whose technical specifications correspond to those of L2e category vehicles according to the directly applicable European Union regulation governing the approval of L-category vehicles50), and

3. four-wheeled motor vehicles with a design speed not exceeding 45 km/h-1, whose technical specifications correspond to those of L6e category vehicles according to the directly applicable European Union regulation governing the approval of L-category vehicles50).

A1

The A1 category includes

2. three-wheeled motor vehicles with a maximum power of 15 kW.

A2

A driving licence can only be issued to a person who has reached the age of 18 years.

The A2 category includes motorcycles, with or without a sidecar, with a maximum engine power of 35 kW and a power-to-weight ratio not exceeding 0.2 kW/kg, which have not been modified from a motorcycle with more than twice that power.
